Garden Update - June 2013

Graver Homestead
The Graver Homestead
Here are some photos of the garden during the first and second week of June. Things are growing extremely well and my landscaping fabric is doing a great job of keeping the weeds down.

Carrots in raised beds
The carrots are growing well at this point. I've peaked at a few under the soil, but not much root formation at this point.  They still need another month or so.

Kale ready for harvesting

Huge Head of Romaine
The Boston and Romaine lettuce have really taken off in the past few weeks and are certainly ready to be eaten.

Sugar Snap Peas
Snap Peas
The snap peas have begun producing for us as well.  10 quarts harvested already. Plants look gorgeous and are filled with flowers and peas.

Green Onions

Butternut Squash
The Green Beans and Butternut Squash were planted less than two weeks ago and have seemed to germinate well and look strong and healthy.

Zucchini Plants looking good

Pepper Plants and Tomato Plants
Peppers and Tomatoes
We planted 3 rows of peppers with a few different varieties and 1 row of Roma tomatoes. These were purchased as transplants and were only planted in the ground a week ago. We put black landscaping fabric between the rows to keep the weeds down. This is our first year doing that, so we'll see how affective it is.

8 Rows of Potatoes

The potatoes have grown several inches in just a few days and have just started to flower. They will need at least another month before they are fully grown.
